🌍 African stars to look out for in the Champions League tonight

Sadio Mané and Mo Salah will likely lead the Liverpool charge in the Champions League tonight as they welcome an out-of-sorts Atalanta side to Anfield.

They head up a healthy group of players from the continent who we will be keeping a close eye on tonight in Champions League matchday 4 action.

Algerian duo Riyad Mahrez and Hillal Soudani will be on opposite sides when Man City travels to Olympiacos looking to seal qualification for the knockouts.

Burkinabé teenager Lassina Traoré already has six goals & five assists in the Eredivisie this season for Ajax, and he's already proved that he's got the capability of performing on Europe's biggest stages too. The Cameroonian interest comes in the form of Traoré's goalkeeper André Onana who will hope to have a relatively quiet evening against competition debutants Midtjylland, and Joël Matip is the most experienced centre-back fit and available to Jurgen Klopp for the visit of Atalanta. Senegal's Sadio Mané and Egypt's Mo Salah provide the superstar power upfront.

RB Salzburg will again have to do without outstanding striker Patson Daka, but his compatriot Enock Mwepu will be flying the flag for Zambia as the Austrian side faces the ultimate test, a trip to defending champions Bayern Munich. Mwepu will have Malian duo Sekou Koïta and promising young midfielder Mohamed Camara alongside him in Germany. The reverse fixture ended 6-2 to Bayern, so don't place too many bets on a 0-0 draw.

Morocco and Inter fullback Achraf Hakimi will be on a personal mission to get revenge against his old club after a 3-2 reverse against Los Blancos last time out. Inter vs Real Madrid is undoubtedly a glamour tie between two European giants who are both struggling for clean sheets at this point in time. There should be goals.

Portuguese giants FC Porto will be relying on a strong African contingent tonight with DRC defender Chancel Mbemba operating alongside Super Eagles full-back Zaidu Sanusi. Upfront, Mali striker Moussa Marega is always more than a handful for defenders and he might fancy his chances of getting on the score sheet. Porto's opponents Marseille are pointless and goalless so far after three group stage games.

The Champions League is always a pleasure to watch and it's made extra special when Africa's finest talents are decorating the action. Enjoy.
