Arsenal batter Rapid Vienna in special night at Emirates

Arsenal kept their 100  percent record in Europe this season with a comfortable 4-1 win over Rapid Vienna at the Emirates on Thursday night.

The Gunners had already booked a place in the last 32, and coach Mikel Arteta took the advantage to rest a number of first-team players with an eye on the weekend's London derby against Tottenham.

The match was also special as the club welcomed fans to the stadium for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic struck.

It took the hosts 10 minutes to get the opener, with Alexandre Lacazette finding the back of the net with a screamer from 30 yards out.

Pablo Mari, who was returning from a long-term injury then doubled the Gunners' lead eight minutes later.

Eddie Nketiah then gave the   Gunners a third just before the break to ensure the Gunners took a  commanding 3-0  lead going not the break.

Arteta's men picked the second half from where they left the first, but it was the visitors who scored first through  Koya Kitagawa two minutes into the second period.

Emile Smith Rowe then restored   Arsenal's three-goal lead in the 66th minute and they held on to win  4-1.

This is the first time Arsenal have won each of their first five European matches in a season since the 2005/6 campaign.
