Kenyan Premier League giants Gor Mahia has appointed Portuguese Carlos Manuel Vaz Pinto as their new head coach.
In a statement across their social media platforms, Gor Mahia noted: “We are pleased to announce our new head coach Carlos Manuel Vaz Pinto from Portugal.”
The 47-year-old Portuguese arrives to replace Brazilian Roberto Oliveira who left the club having not overseen any competitive game at Gor; the former Rayon Sports coach having been barred from leading the team in CAF competitions owing to his qualifications.
The tactician is expected to be part of the handful of fans that will watch the team in action against Kariobangi Sharks at the MISC Kasarani on Sunday in their Kenyan Premier League tie.
He arrives day after Gor Mahia were paired alongside Zambia side Napsa Stars in the CAF Confederations Cup last qualifying round after being bundled out of the CAF Champions League; the tactician hoping that he can guide the club to the group stage of the competition.
