Mikel Arteta has revealed Arsenal is close to completing the signature of Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard.
Odegaard, who trained with Arsenal earlier this week completed his medical ahead of his loan move. Speaking to Sky Sports following Arsenal's 3-1 win over Southampton on Tuesday evening, Arteta revealed that an announcement is imminent in the next 24 hours.
"I think we are pretty close but it’s not finalized it as I understand it," he said.
"I haven’t spoken to Edu or the club in the last few hours but we’re very positive that we’ll finalize the deal."
Odegaard will become Arsenal's second signing during the January transfer window following the arrival of Mat Ryan, who joined on loan from Brighton.
