English Premier League side Arsenal is ready to hand defender David Luiz a new deal.
The Independent reports that the Brazilian will be given a new one-year contract extension ahead of his current deal expiring at the end of the season.
Luiz was handed a new deal at the end of last season; a move that elicited divided opinions among the club fan base but after some good display in recent games, the club feels that the former Chelsea FC man deserves a longer stay with them.
The reports further state that Arteta values the center-back's qualities and is keen to retain his services beyond the end of this season with the manager seeing Luiz as a player who can help the club's younger players make the step-up into the first-team.
The club’s general policy has been to offer one-year deals to players over the age of 30 with the club set to enter the market next summer for a young defender to be a long-term replacement for the former PSG man.
