Manchester United is set to raid Serie A giants Juventus for the services of Matteo Tognozzi for the Sporting Director role.
Stretty News reports that Tognozzi, who was in line to become Celtic’s Director of Football, will now be heading to United with the English giants having settled on him following a check-up on different names for the role.
“We understand that senior officials at United are putting together an offer which they hope would see Tognozzi snub Celtic and take the reins at Old Trafford instead. “Talks are understood to be underway, however, it has also been suggested to us that should a suitable offer be presented, Tognozzi would welcome the United sporting director’s role,” the report said.
Tognozzi has been the chief scout for Juve for the past three years and was an international scout for the likes of Zenit St. Petersburg, Hamburg, and Bayer Leverkusen before his role with the Italian giants.
In his tenure, he helped Juve to the signing of players like Wojciech Szczesny and Weston McKennie among others.
