Arsenal have received a huge blow in their season run-in with news that left-back Kieran Tierney will be out for the remainder of the season.
The Scottish left-back injured his knee ligaments against Liverpool last weekend with manager Mikel Arteta using Granit Xhaka in the left-back position during their 3-0 win over Sheffield United on Sunday.
And asked about the fitness of Tierney and the performance of Xhaka after the game, Arteta said: "Today he (Xhaka) had a really strong performance and he gives you another option.
"Kieran is out, probably for the season so we need different options at that position and he can be one of those."
Arsenal confirm Kieran Tierney has suffered ligament damage in his knee. No surgery required, due back to full training in four to six weeks.— Charles Watts (@charles_watts) April 7, 2021
