Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has underlined results as the only way to measure his team’s success.
Beyond completing exciting signings, delivering entertaining football and blooding in young players from the academy, Arteta’s overriding objective is to win football matches.
"The only tangible thing is results. Whether you are doing a good job or not, externally you are only going to be judged with results,” the Spaniard said ahead of facing Slavia Prague in a Europa League quarter-final second leg on Thursday.
"Internally, you know what you are doing and you can have many different ways to judge. But in the end, results are the only important thing externally, to have the perception that we are moving in the right direction,” Arteta added.
With the expectation to finish in the Premier League’s top four to achieve UEFA Champions League football out of Arsenal’s grasp, the dream of playing in the elite competition next season lies on winning the Europa League.
