Xherdan Shaqiri to leave Liverpool in search of more playing time

Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri is set to leave the club this summer as he seeks more game time elsewhere.

The Insider Sports reports that the Switzerland international has instructed his agent to find a new club for him having made just 21 appearances for the Reds this season with only six of the game being starts.

He has played just a solitary minute in the past five league games, and it is reported that Italian sides AS Roma and Lazio are among the clubs interested in signing the former Stoke City man. Apart from the Serie A teams, La Liga giants Sevilla have also been linked with the player.

Liverpool demanded £23 million for the player last season but it is reported that they are willing to reduce the price if they can find the right offer for the player.

In his first season at Anfield three years ago. Shaqiri netted six goals during the first half of the 2018/2019 Premier League campaign but barely featured during the second half of that season, playing just 263 minutes last term due to injuries and competition for places.

The player has two years remaining on his contract and it is reported that his likely destination will be AS Roma due to the club’s relationship with Liverpool. They have previously sold keeper Alisson and Mohamed Salah to the Reds.
