🚨 Sami Khedira to retire from football at the of the season

World Cup-winning Germany midfielder Sami Khedira will retire from football at the end of the current campaign.

Khedira who has been in the books of Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin will call it quits after their last game of the season against Hoffenheim this Saturday.

In an Instagram post, Khedira said: "Time to say goodbye. It's never easy to make life-changing decisions. But sometimes you have to."

His decision comes just three months after joining Hertha from Serie A giants Juventus where he won five league titles.

In his career, the 34-year-old won 16 major trophies during his 14-year club career, winning the Champions League and La Liga with Real Madrid and the Bundesliga with Stuttgart added to the World Cup he won with Germany.

While Khedira had treatment for an irregular heartbeat when with Juventus in February 2019, he successfully returned to action and collected two more Italian titles with the club before returning to German football.

He leaves after helping Hertha secure their Bundesliga status following their last Saturday's goalless draw with Cologne; the German having featured in eight games for the club.
