Paris Saint Germain has given up on their chase for Argentine captain Lionel Messi.
Messi is currently a free agent after his contract with Barcelona elapsed at the end of last month but it is believed that his club is in the advanced stage in handing a long-term deal.
Reports from Paris-based news outlet, Le Parisien, Messi have made it clear that his objective is to stay in the Camp Nou and will not accept any move from any club.
Images have run circles around the globe, Barcelona, and Paris in particular. Having won the Copa America with his national team, the Argentine captain was seen spending time with several PSG players, showing his emotional ties to several members of the French club.
Incumbent Barcelona president Joan Laporta promised the club during his campaigns that his first task would be to keep the Argentine at Camp Nou and is doing everything to make that a reality.
Messi is to take three weeks off from the club following their COPA America triumph, then rejoin training sessions either at the end of the month or at the start of August.
