Harry Kane fires Tottenham into Europa League Conference group stage

Harry Kane marked his return to Tottenham starting lineup with a brace as the London club secured their place in the inaugural Europa League Conference with a 3-0 home win over Pacos de Ferreira on Thursday evening.

Nuno Espirito's side trailed 1-0 from the first leg played in Portugal last week, but took the lead nine minutes into the match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Kane, who was making his 64th European appearance for Spurs, easily beat the keeper following a neat cut-back from Bryan Gil.

The striker, who had been linked with a move to Man City, then doubled his and Spurs' lead after the half-hour mark, drilling home on a second attempt after his initial shot was blocked.

Spurs could have had more goals as Lo Celso and substitute Steven Bergwijn were both denied - the latter by a post - but eventually, the Argentine scored from a free-kick to make it 3-0.

The 3-1 aggregate win ensured Spurs will be in the draw on Friday.

It was a special night for Kane on the week he announced he will be staying at the club following weeks of speculation he was on his way out.

He also equaled Steve Perryman's record for the highest amount of appearances for the club in European competition on 64 in total.

Coach Espirito was full of praise for the England international after the match, saying;

"I see Harry every day since he joined us, every day. He doesn't have to prove (anything) to anyone," Kane said. "He's committed. You can see.

"All the situations that have happened, are part of the past, let's look and move forward, but I see him every day.
