Chelsea's fresh Jules Kounde bid rejected by Sevilla

According to multiple sources, Chelsea's fresh Jules Kounde transfer proposal has been rejected, and the club has been informed that they must pay the £60 million release clause included in the player's Sevilla contract. The Blues have been after Kounde all summer, and it now appears that a deal may be completed in the last hours before Tuesday's 12 am deadline.

Despite the great performances of each of his back three during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Liverpool, Thomas Tuchel has been anxious to buy a new center-back due to a number of concerns in the position.

Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, and Andreas Christensen were all superb at Anfield, but their contracts are coming to an end, with the Blues still attempting to sign the trio to new contracts.

Kurt Zouma has also left Tuchel, joining West Ham for £25 million. The emergence of academy graduate Trevoh Chalobah has not been enough to persuade the head coach that he does not want other reinforcements at the position.

The London club has been trying to sign France international Kounde throughout the summer but has run into roadblocks.

Chelsea's latest £47 million offer has been rejected by the La Liga club, according to France Football, with Sevilla wanting to go closer to the £60 million release clause for the 22-year-old.

Since his move to the Spanish side from Bordeaux two years ago, Kounde has made an impression, with 91 appearances for the club, and his form earning him a France call-up earlier this year against Wales.
