RECORD: Four penalties awarded in one half in Sevilla vs Salzburg

Four penalties were awarded in the first half of the match between Salzburg and Sevilla in Spain, to make a new record of spot-kicks given one half of a game.

Three went in favor of the visitors, with Germany's Karim Adeyemi winning all three after being fouled repeatedly in the danger area.

However, with the first spot-kick that he won, he veered it wide, allowing Luka Sučić to jump in, burying this take. The drama didn't end there, as Sevilla goalkeeper Bono fouled Adeyemi once more, only for Sučić to miss the Austrians' third spot attempt of the half.

Full-time: Sevilla 1-1 Salzburg

As if that wasn't enough, Julen Lopetegui's side equalized before the break with the fourth penalty of the half after a VAR review, allowing Ivan Rakitic to equalize at a time when his side should have surely been out of the match.

All these penalties have now broken some records along the road, which is unsurprising.

It is the first time in Champions League history that four penalties were granted in the same game, and a visiting team had never been awarded three in the same match before, with three home teams having done so previously.
