Premier League held their South American players from traveling to their countries early this month due to the Covid restrictions in the UK.
There have been reports that the English top-flight officials will do the same in the coming international break if the UK government fails to scrap some of the South American countries from the red list.
Brazilian media outlet UOL Esporte reports that FIFA will be meeting the Premier League officials on Wednesday to discuss the release of players for the commitments of national teams in October. Another meeting on the same issue is expected to happen on Friday between FIFA and the British government.
According to the reports, there are “positive signs and constructive dialogue” with the British government with the Brazilian Football Confederation is doing its part to avoid another situation that affected the match between Argentina and Brazil.
The CBF is triggering the request to the Brazilian authorities, so anyone coming from England does not have to comply with quarantine when arriving in Brazil. In Brazil, anyone arriving from the UK is subject to a 14 quarantine period.
