Bayern Munich lose first Bundesliga game of the season at home to Frankfurt

Bayern Munich lost their first Bundesliga match of the season as they went down 2-1 against Eintracht Frankfurt at the Allianz Arena on Sunday evening.

It was also coach Julian Nagelsmann's first loss in a competitive match with the Bavarians.

The hosts took a first-half lead through Leon Goretzka, but Martin Hinteregger leveled the scores almost immediately for the visitors.

Filip Kostić then sealed the final scoreline against the run of play in the closing stages of the game.

The Bavarians were in control of the match for long periods and came close to opening the scores after just five minutes when Robert Lewandowski received a lofted pass in the goal area and unleashed a dangerous header which sailed a few inches over the bar.

Niklas Sule then came close to opening the scores in the 25th minute after he nicely turned his man inside the box, but placed his effort just wide of the right post.

Four minutes later Goretzka latched n to a pass and produced a perfect strike from the edge of the box that went inside the left post and past the goalkeeper.

Three minutes later, Hinteregger jumped highest and coolly planted a bullet header into the roof of the net.

Serge Gnabry then saw his effort go off the bar just before the break, minutes after the Frankfurt had made a wonderful save.

With five minutes to go, Djibril Sow played a short, square pass into the path of Kostic who bent a shot straight into the bottom right corner to make it 1:2.

It proved the all-important strike as they left Munich with maximum points.
