Real Betis midfielder Nabil Fekir has opened up on his failed move to Liverpool, leaving the talks he had with Jurgen Klopp.
Fekir came close to signing for Liverpool in 2018 from Lyon but the move failed to materialize in the final stages. Some reports emerged that the failed move was due to medical problems but Fekir says the deal wasn't off due to concern over a knee injury he had.
The Frenchman then moved to Real Betis the following year and last month the midfielder claimed that it was his agent that put a stop to his dream move to Liverpool.
In his recent interview with BetisTV, the 28-year-old says he had talks with Klopp before agreeing to join the Reds from Lyon.
"Everything was closed," he said.
"I passed all the interviews, I spoke with Jurgen Klopp, he told me that he loved me, we all did it and, when we were about to sign, there were problems with my representative and the negotiation broke down."
"They said it was because I had knee problems, but the truth has been proven over time. My knee is super good."
