Guardiola: Sterling free to leave Man City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has opened the door for Raheem Sterling to leave if he doesn't feel wanted at the club.

The 26-year-old said while on international duty with England that he was open to a move away from the Etihad if the club isn't going to give him more playing time and Guardiola has stirred the debate by setting the player free.

“What I want from Raheem and everyone is they have to be satisfied to be here and delighted to be in this club. If that’s not the case they are free to make the best decision for the player and his family.

"Not just Raheem, all of them want to play every game but I cannot assure them. They have to improve every training session and be there on the pitch and try to be happy there," Guardiola said prior to their win against Burnley.

Despite the tension between the two, Guardiola gave Sterling a starting berth in their 2-0 win over Burnley on Saturday in what he claimed was a challenge on them to perform for the team.
