Salah: We wanted to write history against Man United

Mohamed Salah has revealed Liverpool wanted to write history against Manchester United at halftime during their Sunday win.

The Reds ran riot at Old Trafford by putting five goals past the hosts, four of which came in the first half. According to the Egyptian, the player's halftime talk involved writing history against their fiercest rivals.

"After half-time, we were talking in the dressing room that we need to write history, we just need to keep going and keep scoring goals, try to score as many as you could.

"A chance like that will not come often. So we just tried to do our best to win the game like that. We knew before the game it was going to be tough if we wanted to win the game, which is what we did," Salah is quoted by the club's website.

The Egyptian helped himself to a hattrick to become the first player to do so at Old Trafford with the goals putting him clear in the goalscorers list; his team is now just a point off leaders Chelsea.
