Atalanta boss fires Manchester United warning

Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini thinks his side are ready for their midweek Champions League test against Manchester United following their game against Lazio on Saturday.

Atalanta held Napoli to a 2-2 draw in the game and according to Gasperini, it was the perfect test to prepare for United.

"We scored two goals. The problem is that we often have to chase. When we take the lead, however, the spaces open up more. In the first half we just needed to be a little more precise on the last kick. We have the right concepts, we lack the quality and precision of last year.

"We hope to win on Tuesday against United to secure our place in the group. I agree that today’s match was a test also because Lazio play like Manchester United. They keep both teams, very high rhythms and so we had a great test," Gasperini told DAZN.

United are top of Group F in the Champions League on six points with Villarreal and Atalanta both behind on four points.

In the reverse fixture at Old Trafford, the Italian side took a two-goal lead before United came out a transformed side in the second half — and goals from Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo completed the comeback.
