Liverpool booked their place in the Champions League knockout stage following their 2-0 win over 10-man Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.
First-half goals from Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane set the former champions on their path to victory at a fully-packed Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp's men got off to a perfect start as Jota headed them in front in the 13th minute, getting on the end of an Trent Alexander-Arnold ball.
It was 2-0 less than 10 minutes later as Mane connected well with another Alexander-Arnold shot to tap in from close range to give them a comfortable lead.
Atleti grew into the game after going down 2-0, but they lost it all in the 36th minute when they were reduced to 10 men after Felipe was shown a straight red card for a foul on Mane.
Mohamed Salah then forced a good save from Jan Oblak in the 41st minute after he received a precise pass inside the box to unleash an unstoppable shot.
A minute later, Jota rose highest to head a cross towards goal, but Oblak did well to once again deny them.
Liverpool started the second half just like the first, pinning Atletico in their own half as they went in search of a third goal.
44 - Since the start of the 2018-19 season, only Kevin De Bruyne (51) has more assists among Premier League players in all competitions than Trent Alexander-Arnold (44). Spark. pic.twitter.com/TbaV3jwobp— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) November 3, 2021
It seemed they had got it three minutes into the second period when Jota coolly slid the ball past the keeper, but the goal was chalked off for offside.
Oblak then denied both Salah and Jota in quick succession, before Luis Suarez scored against his former club just before the hour-mark.
The goal was however canceled following a VAR check as there was an offside in the build-up.
There were no more goals for both teams despite getting numerous chances to add to their tallies.
The win means Liverpool have won all their group games so far, and joined Juventus and Bayern Munich in the next round.
