Renato Sanches responds to Arsenal transfer speculation

Renato Sanches has admitted that Arsenal could be interested in signing him from Lille, while also admitting that he is ready to move on.

As a highly-rated 18-year-old, the midfielder joined Bayern Munich for €35 million in 2016, but he failed to live up to expectations at the Allianz Arena.

Sanches joined Lille in France after a loan spell with Swansea City in the Premier League, where he has been redeeming his reputation.

Last season, the 24-year-old helped the French club win Ligue 1, and he also had a number of strong performances for Portugal at Euro 2020.

The Portugal international revealed in an interview with L'Equipe that his problems at Bayern are behind him and that he is 'ready' to make another big move.

‘When I arrived at Bayern, I was not ready to play in such a club,’ Sanches said.

‘I was very young, and when I got ready, the opportunity to play with this team never came.

‘Today I feel ready. I understand football better, I have more experience, I know what to do to play in this kind of club and that changes everything.’

‘Maybe Milan and Arsenal are interested but I don’t know,’ he added.

‘I spoke with my agent, I know which clubs are calling and which are not, but I can’t tell now. I know I’m ready.

‘If an offer comes in, I’ll find out what’s best for me.’

Sanches has since been linked with a number of teams, with Arsenal and AC Milan apparently being 'serious' competitors for his signature.

A move to Barca?

‘Many clubs were interested this summer, when I sustained the injury, I understood that I would have stayed at Lille,’ he continued.

‘It was all done with Barcelona, I think it all collapsed because of the injury.’
