Toni Kroos: I want to retire at Real Madrid

Toni Kroos, the Real Madrid midfielder whose current deal expires in 2023, has voiced his intention to remain at the Bernabeu for the remainder of his career.

The 32-year-old has remained a regular in Los Blancos' starting lineup this season, scoring three goals and assisting on another in 20 appearances across all competitions, and he is eager to win a contract extension.

After joining Real Madrid from Bayern Munich in 2014, the German's contract will be extended by one season, bringing his total time at the club to ten years in two years.

Kroos told Sky Sports News in Germany: "I deliberately chose the contract period when I last extended, because then I would be 33 and it is a good age to think about how to continue.

"However, I don't need to think about it, there is an incredible relationship with the club that I would never put at stake for some kind of speculation.

"I think that is the case on both sides, I want to end my career here and it will happen that way, when exactly that will come I can't answer exactly, if that will be in 2023 or a year or two later.

"I know what I have at the club and they know what they have in me. I still feel great, but you have to adapt to the level that your body is at, also you have to have the desire."

Kroos has 83 assists and 25 goals in 340 games for Real Madrid throughout his lengthy stay at the club.
