Messi dropped as Argentina name squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers

Sebastián Scaloni has named his Argentina squad for the country’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Colombia.

The biggest omission is that of captain Lionel Messi, who is yet to build rhythm with French giants PSG, whom he joined during the summer.

Messi has missed a huge chunk of the club's matches due to injuries, with a recent Covid-19 positive test making it worse for the 34-year-old.

The likes of Dybala, Julián Álvarez, Angel Correa, and Joaquin Correa have all been included in the team, same as Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez.

Here is the full squad;

Argentina play away to Chile on Friday, January 28, before hosting Colombia on Wednesday, February 2.

Scaloni's side have however already booked their place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar alongside archrivals Brazil.
