🚨 Man United put Brentford to the sword in scintillating second-half performance

Manchester United bounced back to winning ways with a resounding yet unconvincing 3-0 win away to Brentford in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

After a goalless first half, the Reds came to life in the second period, with Anthony Elanga, Mason Greenwood, and Marcus Rashford scoring the goals.

The opening half however belonged to the hosts, who could have taken a three-goal lead were it not for David de Gea's brilliance.

The first chance fell to Mathias Jensen, who received a precise pass and was given time inside the box to send a promising strike towards the bottom right corner, only for the Spaniard to guess his intention and denied him with a fine save.

Mads Bech Sorensen then got to the end of a rebound and unleashed a shot, but the effort was blocked as the hosts got a corner kick.

Diogo Dalot then got a glorious opportunity to put his side in front midway through the half, but his long-range shot went painfully wide of the right post.

United came back for the second half a changed side and took a deserved lead in the 56th minute when Elanga buried a close-range header in the right side of the goal after a good run and cross by Fred.

It was 2-0 two minutes later as Bruno Fernandes put the ball on a plate for Mason Greenwood who scored with a simple close-range finish.

With a 2-0 goal lead, United started toying around with their hosts and seemed the most likely to add another goal before the final whistle.

It finally arrived 10 minutes from time as Fernandes once again produced a great pass that found Rashford inside the penalty area, who took advantage of the situation to rifle a shot into the top right corner.

The hosts then pulled one back through Ivan Toney, who was in the right place at the right time to get to a rebound inside the box, and gleefully rifled the ball low inside the left post.

The win saw United move up to seventh, level on points with Arsenal, who have a match at hand.
