🚨 Senegal storm AFCON semi-finals with hard-fought win over Equatorial Guinea

Senegal booked a place in the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals thanks to 3-1 win over Equatorial Guinea on Sunday evening.

Famara Diedhiou gave the Lions of Teranga the opener midway through the first half, but it was canceled out by Jannick Buyla before Cheikh Kouyate and Ismaila Sarr scored a goal each to send them through.

The match got off to a slow start with no real action on both sides of the goalposts, even though Senegal looked the sharper of the two.

The first real threat on goal lead to Senegal's opener just before the half-hour mark as they scored a fantastic team goal.

Diedhiou was set free in the area by Sadio Mane and he made no mistake with a lovely finish into the bottom left corner.

Equatorial Guinea felt they should have had a penalty five minutes into the second half when Kalidou Koulibaly appeared to handle the ball in the box, but the referee wasn't in the best position and not even a VAR review could change it.

They finally go the breakthrough in the 57th minute as Buyla received a delightful pass inside the box and smashed a low shot into the bottom right corner.

Kouyate then restored Senegal's lead in the 72nd minute when he found himself in the right place at the right time to get to a rebound inside the box and gleefully rifled the ball into the right side of the goal.

Ismaila Sarr, who was making his first appearance in the competition then wrapped up the win with Senegal's third with 10 minutes to go,

Aliou Cisse's side will now face Burkina Faso for a place in the final.
